He Threw a Rock at His Teacher.

Bomsu caused another major incident at kindergarten.

It's only been a week since he gave me hope — hope that he could actually be helpful to someone. And now this. Apparently, he threw a rock roughly the size of a fist at his teacher. In the span of one week, I've swung from hope to despair and back again. I decided to ask him about it directly.

"Why did you throw a rock at your teacher?"

"…"

"What was your reason? Did you have one?"

"I had a reason. I wanted to hit her."

"Do you know what would happen if you hit her?"

"…"

"If it hit her on the head, she'd bleed and have to go to the hospital. Did you throw it because you wanted to hurt her?"

"No! That's bad! That's scary!"

"Then did you not know that throwing a rock could hurt her?"

"Did you know, or did you not know?"

"I didn't know…"

"And why did you put your toy rooster in the boiling water? Was there a reason?"

"If you boil a chicken, it turns into food!"

"Ah — were you curious whether a toy rooster would turn into cooked meat if you boiled it?"

"Yeah."

"Bomsu, a toy rooster doesn't turn into food when you boil it. And if you put things in a pot by yourself and the boiling water splashes on you, your skin could burn. Then you'd have to go to the hospital."

"No! That's scary!"

Having a real conversation with Bomsu used to feel impossible. So even though what he did was alarming, I felt a flicker of hope — his communication skills have grown enough that I could actually piece together what happened. Still, imagining that rock making contact, his teacher getting hurt… it's awful to even think about.

What hit me hardest was the fact that I've been consistently teaching him, for a long time, that you only throw balls — nothing else. If even that isn't sinking in, suddenly the road ahead feels very dark again.

His kindergarten teacher brought up the topic of a classroom aide again. I think we've reached the point where we can't wait any longer. Bomsu clearly needs dedicated support — for everyone's safety. It's not just about class size. He needs someone who can patiently explain things to him and keep a close eye on his behavior throughout the day. I also think it would go a long way toward helping his German improve. I need to email the principal again to find out how to apply.

Stay calm. No one got hurt. This is just another opportunity to teach him about dangerous behavior.
